Developing a Quantitative Research Plan

 

In Week 1, you began formulating the introduction to your quantitative research plan. This week, you will submit the introduction, which serves as the first place where a reader will gather the purpose and intention of your proposed research.

To prepare for this Application:

  • Review the two texts from RSCH 8101: Research Theory, Design, and Methods:
    • Research Design: Qualitative, Quantitative, and Mixed Methods Approaches
      • Chapter 8, “Quantitative Methods”
    • A Primer in Theory Construction
      • Chapter 1, “Introduction”
      • Chapter 2, “The Idea”
      • Chapter 3, “Concepts”
      • Chapter 4, “Statements”
      • Chapter 5, “Forms of Theories”
  • Review the assigned chapters in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association to ensure that your in-text citations and reference list are accurate.

The assignment:

  • Submit a 3- to 4-page draft of the first part of your research plan. Include the following elements in your draft:
    • Title
    • Introduction
      • Opening statement
      • Background of study
      • Problem statement
      • Purpose of the study
      • Research question(s) and hypotheses
      • Theoretical framework
