Investigative Report Guidelines

Investigative Report Guidelines

Investigative report will provide current research and recommendations pertaining to a maternal or pediatric nutrition topic. All topics must be approved by the instructor. Your “investigation” should describe what the issue is, why it is important, research concerning the topic, and appropriate recommendations based on current research.

Research (a.k.a. “investigation”):  Because this is a scientific investigation only SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS are appropriate sources of research. Journal articles selected cannot be more than 5 years old and must come from peer-reviewed journals including American Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Journal of the American Medical Association, and other appropriate medical and nutrition based journals. A minimum of three references from such journals must be used in addition to your textbook. WEBSITES ARE NOT APPROPRIATE SOURCES. You may choose to use Position Papers from professional organizations but the bulk of your report must be based on current research available within scientific journals.
