Newspaper Analysis This Assignment requires you to analyze a newspaper article. You may want to use a national newspaper, such as the Washington Post, or opt for a local newspaper in this Assignment.

You will use ideas drawn from the readings to find examples of arguments in written sources. You may select a story (news writing or opinion/editorial) on a topic that matters to you. The project will be at least 3 pages, double-spaced. Be sure to use proper APA citation of your source both internally and in full reference at the end of the paper.

Your Assignment is as follows:

Read the entire article to obtain a clear understanding of the overall argument being presented. Provide a brief summary of the article. Identify the style of argumentation used in the article. Identify the three elements of the psychology of argumentation within the article’s argument. What is the logos of the argument? What is the ethos of the argument? What is the pathos of the argument? Are these elements used effectively in the article? Why, or why not? Submitting your Assignment

Put your project in a Word document. Save it in a location and with a name that you will remember.

When you are ready to submit it, click on the Dropbox and complete the steps below:

Click the link that says Submit an Assignment. In the “Submit to Basket” menu, select Unit 3: Assignment. In the “Comments” field, include at least the title of your assignment. Click the Add Attachments button. Follow the steps listed to attach your Word document. To view your graded work, come back to the Dropbox or go to the Gradebook after your instructor has evaluated it. Click the Dropbox to access it. Make sure that you save a copy of your submitted assignment.
