Individuals with Disabilities Education Act

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) provides the legal mandate and requirements for the provision of special education and related services in the public school system. Bateman and Linden (2006) identified five major components of IDEA in Chapter One–Evaluation and Identification, Individualized Education Program and Related Services, Placement, Funding, and Procedural Safeguards.
